This fascinating Dactylioceras Ammonite fossil was found and prepared by a lovely gentleman from Yorkshire. Dactylioceras were a common genus of ammonite and lived approximately 180 million years ago.

Ammonites have long been associated with myth and folklore world wide. In Ancient Greece, ammonites were regarded as sacred symbols associated with the horned god, Jupiter Ammon. In some areas of Scotland, ammonites were known as crampstones and were used for treating cramp in cows.
