Silicon carbide, also known as carborundum, is a beautifully coloured lattice. It is not a naturally forming mineral and should not be mistaken for the very rare natural silicon carbide mineral with the name moissanite. It is commercially formed by heating carbon and sand at very high temperatures, producing extremely strong bands of crystals. In the light it produces an amazing rainbow of colours.
Size – approx. 100mm x 65mm
Please note that Silicon Carbide has sharp and rough edges. Care should be taken when handling.
