Sodalite was discovered in 1811 in Greenland, and did not become popular as an ornamental stone until 1891 when large deposits of fine material were discovered in Ontario, Canada. Its name comes from its high sodium content.
Said to help calm and clear the mind, bring joy and relieve a heavy heart. Believed to aid the metabolism and lymphatic system.
